Mycelium Parlour

NEST Festival, Alt Penedès

A gathering of mushrooms sharing stories from the world above and below. Through playful conversations and fungal lore, they slowly uncover the invisible network that binds them into a single living being.

Individualized speakers within each mushroom cap give their own unique voice and personality to entice passersby with their own respective stories of their experiences above and underground, with ambient music providing atmosphere during each passing chapter.

The installation at night on a forest clearing, the cluster of mushrooms lit orange and white against a deep blue sky and a dark treeline
Two fabric mushrooms standing among trees at dusk, their caps layered in green, ochre and rust cloth, warm fairy lights and a blue glow at their base A visitor in a wide-brimmed hat stops on the forest path beside the mushrooms, a lit strip of white fabric spiralling up the trunk behind them One mushroom seen from below, its olive cap trimmed with beaded fringe and painted monarch wings, on a stalk of gathered brown and green cloth
Close view of a cap sewn from olive and rust fabric, edged with black beads, two painted monarch butterflies resting on top Close view of a cap made from plum, cream and rust fabric rosettes, a large painted monarch wing at the front and a smaller blue and green mushroom behind The installation at night with a magenta-lit pine rising behind it, points of warm light scattered through the branches
